The story so far...

My last rally was competing in the opening round of the Norwegian Rally Championship. It was, without a doubt, the toughest day of rallying I have ever done. I have never been so tired after one day - even on Rally GB. The notes were much quicker, the stages painfully bumpy and the number of cars crashed out, quite terrifying. One stage was cancelled because of a car on its roof, another was delayed due to a wandering elk! It was everything that former World Champion Petter Solberg said it would be when I called him for urgent help!

Bearing in mind, this was only my 5th rally, I was pretty pleased I came through unscathed. In 2004 I was given the challenge for an ITV programme to train as a co-driver and to compete in the World Rally Championship within three months. It was¬ a very big task considering I had never sat in a rally car before! It seemed such a difficult and grueling concept that ITV decided that they would film my progress and put it on one of my programme, Speed Sunday.

Wales Rally GB was the challenge. It was accepted and completed successfully. Driver Tony Jardine and myself in our Sportinglife.com MGZR X-Power team won our class and did what half the field did not do - finish

It was an absolute dream come true. I love rallying and try and go and watch or report on one whenever I can. To compete in Wales Rally GB was one of the best experiences of my life - simply awesome.

I've been lucky enough to have some world-class assistance with my rallying. I sat my theory and driving exams and under the tuition of Bill Gwynne at his Rally School, near Silverstone and owe much to my mentor, former World Champion (and co-driver to Richard Burns), Robert Reid. Some of the WRC co-drivers, like the late Michael Park, Markko Martin's team mate, also helped me when it came to Rally GB. And I mustn't forget Scandinavian legend John Haugland who has a winter rally school in Norway and helps train some of the world's best rally.
