June heralds the start of the summer of sport!

Don’t you just love it when the summer comes around! Football and rugby take a breather, albeit a pretty short one and some of Britain’s real traditional summer sports provide the entertainment for the long, sunny days. For me it all starts with the Derby. If you haven’t been before, then it is a must; whether you are lucky enough to watch from the exclusive Royal Enclosure or from the middle of the rollercoaster circuit on the top of an open-top London bus. And what a race we had this year and what a winner. New Approach is, in my opinion, the best horse to take in the honours in many years.
The racing season gallops on to Royal Ascot, where this week some of the most expensive, best turned out creatures, both human and horse will descend on Berkshire for a truly stylish week.
For tennis lovers Queens and Eastbourne are the teasers before Wimbeldon and again, if this is an event you have never been to then you really must go. This year Rafa Nadal looks to scorch the grass but Andy Murray will definitely give the fans plenty to cheer about. For those who don’t have tickets, get up early and get queuing!
This week I am also lucky enough to attending some International Polo at the Beaufort which is one of my favourite summer sports. Believe me, there is nothing gentile about this sport and anyone who watches, or who has played, knows just how rough Polo can be!
So for the month of June, my advice is to get out and get involved in as many different sports as you can because before you know it, the night’s will be drawing in, the rain will be pounding down and you’ll have missed the chance to try something different.
I am back on screen from next month, but at the moment there is just too much fun to be had out and about!!
