F1 Is Back On The BBC

posted by Lee McKenzie on 27/03/2009

In a few hours, Formula One will be back on the BBC for the first time in 12 years. The atmosphere within the team is electric and we all just want to get started.

For me personally it is a big moment in my career and emotionally too. Too work for the BBC is a huge honour, especially in F1. When I was growing up The Chain signalled the start of programme “the noisy cars” and to be part of it now is a childhood dream come true.

There are just a few hours before the first live broadcast and the first qualifying of the season. It is shaping up to be a massively exciting season and such an unknown quantity at this stage. Could Jenson Button be Britain’s next golden boy or will Lewis Hamilton use all his inner composure and become the first British driver to retain his title?

In the meantime I have had a busy schedule of radio interviews for myself as well as me interviewing drivers and team bosses.

I hope this weekend goes well for me and everyone at the BBC and I really hope you enjoy watching the shows over the weekend. I am sure you will be impressed with not just the music and the lack of adverts, but the features are also unmissable. We are on for an hour before the start of the race and up to an hour at the end of the race on the red button. If you miss any of the action you can watch again on the I-player.

Have fun!

Lee x
