Chilled out drivers and The Easy Orchestra
posted by Lee McKenzie on 26/03/2009
Went to the track for the first time today (Wednesday) and the atmosphere was great. The sun came out and teams and drivers alike were all pretty relaxed and enjoying the heat.
Nelson Piquet Jr, was in great form and looking forward to getting started and John Button, Jenson’s father was already nervous about what could be come Sunday! I spoke to the Toyota drivers and Nico Rosberg, all are pretty keen to get the season going.
As dusk came down Jake Humphrey and I took a gold buggy round the 3.3 mile circuit. Normally I walk it, as new recruit Sebastian Buemi was doing when we whizzed passed him, but we were tired and it was getting dark. Wheels were the chosen option.
Thursday, I am having lunch at the traditional McLaren pre-season visit to the Stoke House where I’ll interview Lewis and Heikki before heading to the track. After some interviews and press conferences in the afternoon I’ll be rushing back to be interviewed my self!
I always listen to the MacAulay & Co on BBC Radio Scotland on the I-player wherever I am in the world. It’s my wee bit of home from home and I am pretty excited to be on the show. Have a listen it is very amusing and on a Friday you get the added dulcet tones of the Easy Orchestra.
By the time I have spoken to Fred, Friday morning GMT then there will have been 2 practice sessions and the season will be underway.
Jet-lag has kicked in now though and I am heading to bed for an early night.
Update you soon.
