Brazillian Dreams!
posted by Lee McKenzie on 20/11/2008
Lewis Hamilton is ready to win his first Formula One World Championship. Felipe Massa wants to steal the title on home soil and have one of the biggest parties Brazil has ever seen. The atmosphere is building and you can feel the tension all around. I am writing this from Interlagos, Brazil, and a storm is brewing both in the skies and on the track.
The day got off to an interesting start with an illegal U-turn in the streets of Sao Paulo resulting in a meeting with the local police and there guns! Suddenly speed cameras don’t seem quite so bad! I would like to point out that I was not driving and merely a passenger!
This weekend I am reporting for BBC Radio 5 and I will be bringing listeners all the news, live, from the pit lane.
Both these drivers have been chasing this dream since they were children and now they are just days away from realising it. One driver will reach his goal, the other will have to wait for at least another year - if at all.
Felipe seems a lot more relaxed than Lewis, but it is the Brazillians to chase, and Lewis’s to lose. On paper the title should be a formality but as we all know, there is no such thing as a ‘formality’ in the world of Formula One.
I’ll be updating this throughout the weekend as Lewis aims to become the first British World Champion since Damon Hill.
